One Big Beautiful Bill Act: Definition of Qualified Tips
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act includes a deduction on qualified tips, and the IRS has released guidance on what a qualified tip is.
Qualified tips must be:
Cash, or an equivalent medium of electronic settlement or mobile payment.
From a customer or mandatory or voluntary tip pool.
Paid voluntarily by the customer and not subject to negotiation.
Additional guidelines and more details can be found at our One Big Beautiful Bill Act Resource Center.

As you're gearing up for year-end payroll, here are a few tips and tricks to help:
Create a detailed checklist of the items that you need to verify.
Confirm employee information—like addresses, social security numbers and names—is correct.
Confirm you have accurate ID numbers for any contractors you produce Form 1099s for.
Log all taxable fringe benefits (i.e., bonuses, gifts, personal use of a company car).
Compare your payroll system's year-to-date totals with your general ledger and payroll tax reports before year-end to identify any discrepancies.
Review all payroll expenses and deductions, including retirement contributions and health insurance premiums.
If using a Human Resource Information System that ties into your payroll system, encourage all employees to review their personal information via their self-service portal and submit any corrections prior to year-end.
At RKL Virtual, we help organizations like yours streamline, automate and elevate your payroll administration and reporting with our HR & Payroll Solution. We pair experienced HR and payroll advisors with leading-edge technology to reduce cumbersome manual work associated with payroll. Learn more below.
Offering remote work options as a reasonable accommodation can help your organization attract and retain employees. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), allowing remote work can be a reasonable accommodation if it enables a person with a disability to do their job and does not cause significant difficulty or expense for your business.
While having a remote work program for all employees isn't an ADA requirement, employers may need to modify remote work policies—such as waiving eligibility requirements—to accommodate employees with disabilities who need to work from home, if the job can be performed remotely.
Health Savings Account Last-Month Rule When a benefit plan renewal year runs from 12/1 to 11/30 and the company offers a Health Savings Account, the plan would fall under the "last-month rule." If an individual is eligible to contribute to an HSA on December 1st of a given year, they can elect to contribute the full amount based on the maximum limit for the following year.
